You don’t need a special diet to go sugar-free. Just follow these 4 simple guidelines:
1. Make a decision to live without any caloric sweeteners for one full week. Try it and see the difference it makes in terms of energy, moods, feelings of well-being, and less cravings for food when you’re not hungry.
2. Check the ingredients list of any food or drink that comes in a container and do not buy anything that has a caloric sweetener in it. This includes sugar (every kind including raw and organic), high fructose corn syrup, any other kind of syrup, agave, corn starch, honey, molasses.
3. Go through your pantry and refrigerator and toss any tempting foods and drinks. If worse comes to worst and you hate being sugar free, you can always buy them again.
4. Go to YouTube and watch one video a day about the toxic dangers of sugar and other caloric sweeteners. There are at least a dozen good ones. Let them inspire you.
It’s okay to…
Eat foods with naturally-occurring sugar like fruit. What you’re concerned about are the sugars and other caloric sweeteners that have been added to foods.
Eat artificial sweeteners and sugar alcohols, but no more than two tablespoons a day.
Drink one serving of alcohol or wine a day. Just make sure the drink isn’t made with a sugar mix.
